April 20 will mark the last time Badger fans attend \Butch's Bologna Bash,"" an annual celebration that draws about 6,000 to the UW Field House for an afternoon of brats, beer and polka music.
For the past 30 years, 79-year-old Palmer ""Butch"" Strickler has organized the event, which has raised more than $3 million over the years, making it one of the largest fund-raisers for the UW-Madison Athletic Department.
The bash is held in conjunction with the Badgers' spring football game.
Strickler is a retired sausage maker from New Glarus, Wis., and was on the UW-Madison basketball team when it won its NCAA Championship in 1941.
The money raised at Butch's Last Bash will go toward a UW athletic scholarship in the name of Strickler and his wife, Ruth.
The Athletics Department does not currently have plans to replace the event with a similar fund-raiser.
Tickets for the event are $30 each or $50 with a raffle ticket.
