Organizers of an effort to recall Madison School Board member Bill Keys for his vote against rescinding the board's \ban"" on the Pledge of Allegiance have until 4:30 p.m. today to collect enough signatures to force Keys to run again for his seat this spring.
Thirty two-thousand supporting signatures must be submitted to the Madison City Clerk's office in order for a recall to occur.
The Capital Times reported Tuesday that recall organizer Bill Geist had estimated that only 10,000 to 12,000 signatures have been collected so far.
Keys was the only member of the school board to vote against a resolution telling schools to set aside time for either the Pledge of Allegiance or the national anthem each day at a contentious Oct. 15 school board meeting attended by approximately 1,000 people.
