It will cost more to park in Madison, following a vote Tuesday by the Transit and Parking Commission to increase parking expenses in Madison parking ramps.
On-street meter rates will increase from 75 cents per hour to $1 per hour.
Parking ramp increases amount to 10 cents per hour in the first year and an additional five cents per hour in the second year of the plan approved by the commission.
The Civic Center parking ramp on Mifflin Street will increase an additional five cents per hour, bringing it to the same cost as the ramps on Carroll and Johnson streets.
Special event and Saturday parking will also increase over the next year at several of the downtown ramps, excepting the north and east sides of the square by the City-County Building.
All price changes will be effective Jan. 1.
