Democratic candidates pledge clean campaigns

In an attempt to regain the Wisconsin gubernatorial seat for the first time since 1982, the four declared Democratic candidates have announced that they will run \clean campaigns"" during the primary election next September.

The five-point pledge, signed by Attorney General James Doyle, U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett, state Senator Gary George and Dane County Executive Kathleen Falk, mandates that the candidates won't personally attack one another and distort each other's positions on issues. Members must also disavow outside attack ads on Democrats, inform their campaign staff of the pledge and support the individual who wins the primary.
