Bush pushes for ban on human-cloning efforts

The Bush administration urged the U.S. Congress Monday to ban human cloning in response to a Massachusetts company's Sunday announcement that it had produced the first human embryos via a cloning procedure. 

 

 

 

The company, Advanced Cell Technology Inc., of Worcester, Mass., is a privately funded organization, making the procedure legal under current federal law. The New York Times reported that the embryos died before they had eight composite cells, and that experts on biotechnology called the experiment a \failure."" 

 

 

 

President Bush on Monday called human cloning ""morally wrong,"" as well as referring to it as ""bad public policy.\
