The UW volleyball team continued its dominance in the Big Ten Wednesday night, breezing past the Northwestern Wildcats in three games in Evanston, Ill.
The Badgers defeated the Wildcats 31-29, 30-15 and 30-21, keeping their seven-match winning streak alive.
Wisconsin moves to 7-0 in the Big Ten and 13-2 overall.
'I'm happy to go on a road trip and come out of it with a three-game win,' Badgers Head Coach Pete Waite said.
UW used a strong offensive output to defeat Northwestern (3-4 Big Ten, 6-7 overall). Senior middle hitter Sherisa Livingston led the Badgers in three games with a .750 hitting percentage.
Sophomore outside hitter Lisa Zukowski hit .571 percent and added 16 kills.
The Wildcats took an early lead in the first game of the match, outscoring the Badgers 5-2 before Wisconsin came back to tie the game 8-8. The Badgers took a 24-15 lead, but Northwestern fought back and tied the game 29-29. UW was able to keep the lead, however, and kills by Livingston and Zukowski put the game away.
The Badgers continued the momentum in the next two games, outscoring the Wildcats 60-36.
'I was a little disappointed we let up in the first game,' Waite said. 'We were up 25-15 and just let them back in that game, but [we] refocused and came back with two big point spreads [in the last two games], so I was happy.
UW continues Big Ten play this Saturday, hosting Purdue at 7 p.m. at the Field House.
