Turnout rate increases greatly in fall ASM race

The Associated Students of Madison fall elections ended Wednesday, with voter turnout among freshman up from last semester by 89 percent, said Nick Kanter, ASM student election commission chair.

Kanter said the increased participation, despite more than half of the student body being ineligible to vote since there were no campus-wide seats for the college of the Letters and Science open, showed him the election was a 'huge step in the right direction.'

Bethany Gries won for the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences; Adam Walsh and Nicole Marklein for freshman representatives; Tom Clark as a L&S graduate student; John Moscariello as a non-L&S graduate student; and Angela Frozena for Professional Students.
