UW-Madison's Babcock dairy will stop certifying that its milk products come from cows without bovine somatotropin.
According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, milk from cows receiving BST is no different from milk from cows that do not receive the supplemental growth hormone.
Dairy director Tom Blattner said he does not think consumers are worried about the issue of BST, a naturally occurring protein found in all milk.

Blattner said that while demand for non-BST milk exists and such supply is available, the dairy will continue to pursue the hormone-free market.
Babcock dairy supplies milk to UW-Madison residence halls, Memorial Union, Union South and UW Hospital.
