New embryonic cell lines beyond the 60 or so lines permitted by the Bush Administration to receive federal funds will be necessary in the future, the National Academy of Sciences said in a report released Tuesday.
The academy also called for continued federal funding for the research, the Associated Press reported.
In addition, the AP report said, the academy recommended that a new advisory group be created at the National Institutes of Health to oversee research on human embryonic cells.
