An altercation between an unidentified barefooted man and a security guard at College Library put the man in the hospital and under arrest Thursday.
Kirstin Dougan was working the library reference desk at approximately 5:30 p.m. when she 'asked a patron to please put on his shoes because we don't allow bare feet in the library. When he became hostile I called our security guard,' Dougan said. A physical struggle between the man and the guard followed, and the guard decided to call the police.
Sgt. Karen Soley of the UW Police Department was at the scene and said it was 'unknown' what condition the man was in when an ambulance drove him away. She added that it was undetermined whether alcohol was a factor.
