Fans attending Saturday's football game at Camp Randall Stadium should plan to arrive earlier than normal, as university officials expect increased security measures for upcoming home sporting events.
This week, purses, fanny packs and other similar items will be subject to inspection, a UW Sports Information news release said.
'The safety of our fans and student-athletes, however, cannot be compromised and these measures will help fans enjoy Wisconsin football games as they're accustomed to,' UW Athletics Director Pat Richter said in a statement.

The game against Western Kentucky, originally scheduled for Sept. 15, was rescheduled after the Sept. 11 terrorism attacks. Kickoff time is 1:05 p.m., with gates opening at 11:30 a.m.
