Bad Chemistry Building valve causes disruption

A loud, repetitive hissing noise and plumes of steam caused by a problem with a pressure relief valve in the Chemistry Building caused several police officers and firefighters to be dispatched to the University Avenue after 10 p.m. Saturday night.

Sgt. Joe Hornbeck of the UW Police Department said steamfitters took about an hour to fix the problem, which caused no damage or injuries.
