The No. 1 Wisconsin Badger women’s hockey team (6-0-0, 2-0-0 WCHA) swept the No. 8 Ohio State Buckeyes (4-2-0, 0-0-2 WCHA) in their away series this weekend. The win on Saturday marked head coach Mark Johnson’s 500th career win as a Wisconsin women’s hockey coach, making him the first NCAA women’s hockey coach to reach that milestone.
Michigan State (4-3 overall, 2-2 Big Ten) came to Madison, Wisconsin on Saturday, hoping to be the first team to solve No. 8 Wisconsin’s (6-0 overall, 3-0 Big Ten) defense in 2019. But, four quarters later the Spartans left Camp Randall without an answer.
Two weeks ago, Northwestern became the first team to frustrate the Badger offense. Jonathan Taylor couldn’t break a big off any big runs and Jack Coan looked flustered. Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor has enjoyed an extraordinary 2019 season thus far, appearing nearly unstoppable each time he carries the rock. On a bad day, his numbers have still lit up the box score. On Saturday, Kent State fell victim to Taylor’s dominance, yielding 215 total yards and five touchdowns to number 23 in red. Even more impressively, Taylor racked up all of those numbers with only 22 touches, a video game-like 9.7 yard average.

The Badgers took on their latest opponents; the tough No. 24 ranked Michigan Wolverines (8-3-1, 3-1-1) at home this Thursday and emerged victorious in a confident 2-0 victory.
The Wisconsin faithful must have known the game was gonna be a blowout. Either that, or the inclement weather scared them away from filling up Camp Randall the way they usually do. Either way, there were pockets of empty seats throughout the stadium and you can’t blame them.
