Voter ID will not be in effect for recalls

For the second time in two days, a state appeals court said Thursday it will not hear an appeal to an earlier decision that permanently froze parts of the voter ID law. This means voters will not have to show an ID at polling places for the coming recall elections.

With the recall primary election less than two weeks away and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Kathleen Falk trailing in the polls, a union-backed pro-Falk group announced Thursday it will spend more than $1 million on advertisements over the next 11 days.

The Student Judiciary ruled Tuesday the nine student council members from the BOOP campaign will not be allowed to participate in the first student council meeting of the coming session, when the body is scheduled to elect its leaders for the next school year.

Dean responds to Mifflin video criticism

Student backlash toward Dean of Students Lori Berquam’s “Don’t Go” to Mifflin video prompted UW-Madison to pull the video from its YouTube channel.  But despite the criticism, Berquam said Tuesday she stands behind her original message that students should not attend the party.
