It appeared to be like any other game on the Cleveland Browns’ offensive line. Former Wisconsin lineman Joe Thomas was positioned as Cleveland’s blindside protector as he had been for 11 seasons. But, on Oct. 22, 2017, midway through the third quarter of Cleveland’s game against the Tennessee Titans, something happened while Thomas was blocking Brian Orakpo on a Duke Johnson run. Thomas went to the ground and started writhing in pain, grabbing his left arm. It turned out, revealed on the following Monday morning, that he had torn his left triceps, causing him to have surgery and ending his 11th season on a sour note.

For the majority of Wednesday night, the Wisconsin women’s basketball team (2-12 Big Ten, 9-18 overall) made it a competitive game against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (7-7, 19-9). The Scarlet Knight’s toughness, grit, determination and senior leadership proved to be too much for the Badgers in the second half, as they secured their first lead midway through the third quarter and never looked back and won 63-50.

Coming off of a heartbreaking defeat on Sunday at Nebraska, the Wisconsin women’s basketball team (2-11 Big Ten, 9-17 overall) returns home Wednesday night for senior night to welcome the struggling Rutgers Scarlet Knights (6-7, 18-9). In doing so, the Badgers will look to surpass their win total from each of the last four seasons.

For the majority of Saturday afternoon, the Wisconsin women’s basketball team (2-10 Big Ten, 9-16 overall) made it a competitive game against the No 18 Ohio State women’s basketball team (8-3, 19-5) in front of a season-high 6,623 Kohl Center crowd. The Buckeyes’ fortitude and senior leadership proved to be too much for the Badgers in the fourth quarter, however, as they pulled away to seal their 68-55 victory.

Milwaukee — “We are, Marquette! We are, Marquette!” roared from a ruckus and jubilant Golden Eagle fan base in the waning minutes of Marquette’s (4-3) 88-65 shellacking of the Wisconsin Badgers (5-4). From the outset, the Golden Eagle faithful created a home-court advantage at the Al McGuire Center that eventually would translate to their players as the game progressed. The atmosphere coupled with Marquette's stellar offense and stout defense would prove to be too much of a challenge.

The University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team (5-3) returned home on Saturday and defeated La Salle (4-4) to win their third consecutive game. And after only one day to prepare, Wisconsin heads back on the road to play in-state rival Marquette (3-3) at the Al McGuire Center.
