Frequently at UW-Madison, campus newspapers inundate students
with environmental causes and concerns. Many of us just glance over
the article because we are quite aware of global warming and
pollution, and wince at the thought of another didactic reading.

To relive a favorite teen drink, add a can of frozen pink
lemonade concentrate to an empty pitcher while talking about how no
one understands the real you. Refill the can with Malibu rum and
add to the pitcher. Last, add two cans of beer to the alcoholic
fray. Stir vigorously. Serve over ice for a tasty hard lemonade, or
drink it straight to figure out why it is called a ""strip and go
naked.""

On Jan. 31, two men triumphantly retired with a legacy of
establishing and maintaining prosperous stability. The images of
both men were so influential to their respective areas, that their
retirements were announced last summer to lessen the blow of their
retirement. Jan. 31 marked the end of the Barry Alvarez era in
Wisconsin football, and the end of the Alan Greenspan era in world
economics. While it is merely a coincidence that these two men
retired on the same day, the similarities in their accomplishments
and their approach to obtaining results are strikingly similar:
their lasting legacy is intertwined with that of their
successors.

Do you have any idea how hard it is to make the Bowl Champions
Series system fair? Stephen Hawking was hired as a consultant, then
fired just as quickly. The almighty genius, whose IQ is apparently
just one point short of infinite, couldn't apply his knowledge of
all things interplanetary to fix a system that attempts to please
everybody but'since its inception'has pleased hardly any.

Elise, having aspired to be president in the year 2020 since
middle school, naturally has become a part of the political process
on the UW-Madison campus. Today, she's running for a position with
the College Republicans, which would be a nice move up from her
legislative messenger (a.k.a. \gopher"") position. Hopefully, Elise
won't pass out after the election like she did on the D.C. metro
last year after the inaugural ball.
