In one heartbreaking sweep, the No. 10 Wisconsin volleyball team
ended its season the same way it started. The Badgers came up short
in the third round of the 2006 NCAA volleyball tournament Friday
night against host school No. 8 Texas, losing the match 30-19,
30-22, 30-12 and falling short of the Elite Eight for the first

College basketball has always had a fascination with mid-major
teams. When one upsets a favorite in the regular season or the

Badgers will look to avoid one of these upsets tonight against one
of the top mid-major teams in the country, the Winthrop Eagles.

Two years ago the Big Ten was called weak, but still put three
teams in the Elite Eight. Last year it was called the strongest
conference in the country during the regular season but could not
land one team in the Sweet 16. Following the trend of unexpected
results, this looked to be a rebuilding year for the conference,
but the Big Ten has gotten off to a hot start.

The pressure of being one of the few returning veterans on a

The UW hockey team knew it would need to rely on new faces its

In the city that never sleeps, Carrie Bradshaw, of HBO's 'Sex
and the City,' always slept around. The paycheck for her New York
City sex column funded a spacious Manhattan flat, luncheons at
five-star restaurants and packs of slims as sleek as the heels of
her $485 Manolo Blahnik stilettos.

Sure, college football's actual awards will not be given out for
several weeks, but why not take a few minutes in this final 2005

For those of us who have devoted our labor to organizations
benefiting UW's minority population, the recent scandal involving
the Wisconsin Black Student Union is a devastating blow. This is
because we know that we are on a campus that, along with its
embarrassing racial history, continually challenges the validity of
not only student of color organizations, but students of color
themselves.

The Associated Students of Madison builds its foundation from
the bottom up. We look to volunteers and interns as well as council
members who invest their time in campaigns and committees that
truly make a difference for students by working on issues such as a
library open 24 hours a day, linking financial aid increases to
tuition and tenants' rights.

We were only four or five blocks from Menaka's house in Chennai,
India, but she was visibly nervous at the prospect of walking the
short distance home. The three of us'three women'set out anyway,
knowing Menaka's parents knew where we were and were probably
