Rain can hamper any Friday evening. A torrential downpour, while fun to watch from indoors, can preclude people from venturing out into the great unknown for adventures and performances across the city. Luckily, for the sold-out crowd at The Sett Friday evening, the rain was an afterthought to a packed lineup of top-notch performers.

In many ways, Wisconsin’s win over Miami (OH) was like a party for the Badgers. There was dancing on the sidelines and in the stands, there was shuffling on the field and it was a coming out for a number of rising players. Wisconsin got its groove on early, and boogied their way to a 58-0 victory.

Seeing iLoveMakonnen for the first time live was a sobering experience. I am ashamed to admit that I know almost every lyric from each song on his mixtapes “Drink More Water 4” and “Drink More Water 5.” No, I am not from Atlanta, and no, I do not move bricks of cocaine as my day job, but there’s something electrifying in jumping up and down while belting lyrics that have no relevancy in my daily life. So when he appeared at the Green Stage at Pitchfork Music Festival this summer, I readily buried my thoughts about how I would feel about this music in even 10 years and sang every song I knew.

ARLINGTON, Texas—Wisconsin pulled off a program-defining win Oct. 16, 2010 that shocked not only the country, but itself. Moments after the then-No. 16 Badgers toppled No. 1 Ohio State, fans rushed onto the turf of Camp Randall Stadium, celebrating a win that would propel them to their first Rose Bowl in a decade. Although the collective euphoria permeated Madison, one thing was very clear: Wisconsin proved it was for real.

The Ohio State Buckeyes wrapped up last season with 13 straight wins and won the inaugural College Football Playoff. As the first ever unanimous No. 1 in the preseason AP poll, they don’t show any signs of slowing down. Everyone and their mother is predicting that they are a shoo-in for the Playoff this season as well. Prediction, though, is a fickle beast.
