How do you know you’re awake right now? How can you be sure? Sure, you think you’re awake. You feel fully conscious and aware. You can see your surroundings. You can move and think and all of your sensory receptors feel active and operational. There are multiple states of being where one can experience all of the thoughts described above and one of them is the state of sleep.

In recent years, the taxi industry has been taken by storm by newcomers such as Uber and Lyft. With their user-friendly apps, strong customer service and cult following among youth, these companies seem like the wave of the future when it comes to getting from Point A to Point B. However, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to these companies, and maybe you should second-guess your decision on how you’re going to get to that party before you call Uber.

I am a Christian, but I support abortion. As a kid, I was taught to value lives with great care and dignity—any form of taking away lives was forbidden. One example of taking away life is abortion. It certainly is a great deal of torment to watch this helpless life end without having a chance to stand in this world, but it is also a painfully complicated issue for others as well. Because abortion is not all about the death of a baby before birth. It is a great tragedy for all parties involved in the process of conception and process of controlling the fate of the potential life.

Sometimes the grass is actually browner on the other side. This may be the case for the new lawns of former Wisconsin head football coaches Gary Andersen and Bret Bielema. Bielema and his gut left for Arkansas in 2012, while Andersen bolted for Oregon State just two years later. Both moves seemed puzzling at the time, so allow me to explain why staying at Wisconsin would have been the wiser choice.

As a lover of all things indie and alternative, I find Beach House to be a continuous creator of all things study music, and their most recent album Depression Cherry is no different. From abstract crooning lyrics that you can’t quite understand, to an instrumental melody that sounds like a dream, this album is one to add to your study list.

Ever since the majority of us were little, our parents and elementary school teachers would fill our minds with the phrase “everybody is important As we grew into functioning teenagers and acquired aspirations of our own, these three words were lost as reality became more prevalent in our lives. Students of all ages can attest that there are definitive cliques that are often determined by natural talent. These athletic, academic and artistic groups often compete for a sense of fulfillment and purpose in society.

As I sat down on autopilot to listen to my weekly assigned album, I pressed play on the first track of the album and something happened: I began to smile. In the midst of an extremely frustrating, stressful day, the voice of Marina Lambrini Diamandis, accompanied with a simple piano track, filled me with joy. I realized that in the middle of College Library I was sitting alone with a huge smile across my face, as if I had just won a thousand dollars. The simplest track on the album made me remember all over again why I fell in love with music in the first place.
