At its peak, the Bon Appétit (BA) YouTube channel was the hub for foodies, offering creative exploration in the culinary scene, a cast of lovable chefs and a brief escape from the unprecedented times of 2020. Millions of viewers, myself included, got lost in Bon Appétit Test Kitchen and what became known as the “BA Culinary Universe.”

At around nine, I visited the Minneapolis Institute of Art. A fountain stood in the middle of the halls, carved from cold white granite. The light that shone on it awoke a spiritual sentiment in me. My mother handed me a penny and I grasped it tightly — so tightly — and for so long that sweat began to pool at the crevices of my knuckles. I then tossed it into the pool of water, a breath releasing from me. The light seemingly intensified, God must have heard my anguish.

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine as Russian tanks poured over the eastern Ukrainian border early Thursday. Explosions from bombings of civilian centers and airports were reported in major cities across Ukraine including the capital Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said more than 137 people had died and hundreds more were injured within the first day of the invasion.

The University of Wisconsin Police Department and Madison police are currently investigating a rise in harassment geared toward female students on State Street, Langdon Street and its surrounding area that occurred over the last week. Authorities believe that only one person is involved, according to UWPD Director of Communications Marc Lovicott.

As college students, we don’t want to miss out on the irreplaceable experience of being on campus. We want to attend class, not only to hear them lecture but to form actual human interactions with them. We wish to communicate with our classmates and we most definitely want to party! However, with the rise of COVID-19, once ordinary realities transformed into wishful thinking — a distant memory.
