A fire’s burning in Oregon, but this runaway blaze was far from somebody failing to dump water on a campsite’s smoldering coals. There’s an armed standoff between the Bureau of Land Management and the owners of the Sugar Pine Mine over who owns the rights to the land it is on. However, instead of being content with the legal system or taking to news outlets to share their story, the owners of Sugar Pine have called in organizations such as The Three Percenters Club, Oath Keepers and the Arizona State Militia to have a standoff with law enforcement officials.

This past Sunday, a violent tug of the shoulder may have changed the landscape of the entire Eastern Conference playoffs. Kevin Love’s dislocated shoulder in Cleveland’s Game 4 victory over Boston could be a season-altering play for many other teams besides the Cavs.

In the beginning there were artists. Single-celled organisms that produced art on a small scale. Some artists would group together to form bands that were able to make more complex music at the same rate. A bunch of artists got the bright idea to see what happened when they all clumped together and performed art all in one place. This petri dish became known as the music festival. 8,500 individuals attended at the Monterey Pop Festival way back in 1967.

Foxygen made a stop at the Sett this past Friday on their “Farewell Tour” and brought arguably the most entertaining show our campus has seen in 2015 thus far. The nine-piece band, which includes three mesmerizing back-up dancers, played a set that consisted of songs off of their two most recent albums, We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic and …And Star Power, enticing the crowd to dance around to favorites such as “Shuggie” and “How Can You Really.”

Professional Rapper Tour was not something to be overlooked. This past Friday Lil Dicky was watching the Badger game while preparing for a sold-out crowd at the Majestic Theatre. They played the Badger game with an open bar before the concert. They have a nice screen that proved to be useful later in the night. My best friend was downtown and ready to see his first show ever at the venue. I was pretty impressed by how hyped the crowd was when arriving.

Mobility is a privilege that the majority of us take advantage of in every waking moment of our lives right now. Strolling the streets with pumpkin spice something, jogging in winters that seem inappropriate, even running through the six (or to catch the six) with our collective woes.

It’s time for another week of Badger Babe bubble blowing! My queer friend Carmen Sandiego is here to talk about who and what she likes in da bedroom, and what campus is like for someone who lives to love the ladies. She has a lot to say so let’s jump right in!

At the top of State Street, past bars and The Hub construction site, there is a thriving community of music lovers, late night owls constantly looking for entertainment. Mat Kearney’s performance at the Orpheum March 18 provided just that.

As the warm air finally found it’s way to Madison everyone came out of hibernation. Between the Big Ten tournament hype and wonderful weather on the Terrace everybody was looking to take to the streets at night, but if you weren’t headed to Union South Friday night you missed out on a good show. Mod Sun based out of Bloomington, Minnesota brought his crew of rappers in the good old RV as part of their “Look Up” tour. It was hard not to like the vibes rolling through the crowd the entire night with the hippy-hop that was going on. Some kid's mom was even in the back of the crowd jamming the entire show.

I’m sick to my stomach writing this. I’m sickened by the callousness with which people I grew up with are talking about the death of a human being, and sickened by the fact that Madison is now on the map for the killing of an unarmed black teenager at the hands of a white police officer. I’m in disbelief that my fellow citizens would be so ignorant as to look at the pervasive, disproportionate use of lethal force against blacks and not see that what we are dealing with is an explicitly racial issue with an entrenched historical precedent.

In the midst of new voices joining the video game space, the underperformers of the past have been forced to make room in the market. After years of commercial underperformance and failed expectations, some of the game industry’s most visible creators are forced to cede their roles to fresh faces.

A road trip is more than traveling from point A to B. Like everything around us it can be just that, simply a route to travel to reach somewhere, but sometimes, it can encompass the entirety of American mythology regarding road trips within it and be so much more. It ceases to be a route to get somewhere and takes the form of an adventure, one that takes you on uncharted water and exposes you to unexpected things. There is nothing quite like having the late afternoon sun kissing your face, the wind dancing through your hair and the great expanse of a road in front of you, waiting for you to envelope it. It is the epitome of ways to find yourself at this time in your life, to drive away in your car, alone or with a few friends, and let your mind think and dream in ways you didn’t know were possible. Regardless of the reasons, it will bring you the clarity you so desperately need. Better yet, it will bring you much more.

Last Thursday and Friday, the Majestic hosted another one of their legendary two-night runs. This time around, the weekend featured The Floozies, following up on the groovy electro-instrumental vibes that performed so well last September when Cherub rocked similar back-to-back shows. In typical Majestic style, the proper social media channels were abuzz for months leading up to the shows, playing into the wave of hype that led both nights to sell out. For everyone who had the sense to grab tickets to both nights before they sold out, that anticipation skyrocketed when The Floozies announced that they'd be playing two unique sets: not a single song would be repeated.

Spring break is often seen as a time that college students go wild, converging on warm places like Florida and Mexico, doing what could be objectively considered the opposite of healthy and productive activities.
