In my opinion, “UnReal” is one of TV’s hidden gems. It was perhaps the first show that brought serious attention to Lifetime, as the network was formerly known to air cheesy, made-for-TV movies or “Dance Moms.” “UnReal” follows two female producers, Quinn and Rachel, of a “The Bachelor” parody program called “Everlasting.” They manipulate the contestants of the show, as well as their co-workers, for the sake of good ratings. We’ve found these two ladies back at it for the season three premiere, letting us know their reign is still strong.

“Vines that keep me from ending it all,” “Vines that cured my depression” and “Vines that really butter my crispy flake:” the threads of six-second videos of pure glee and bliss can be found on nearly every form of social media. When it was announced on Jan. 17, 2017, that the iconic video application was going to be laid to rest, hearts were broken worldwide. While millions of people were now able to escape the vomit-inducing ignorance of individuals such as Logan Paul, Nash Grier and Jacob Sartorius with much more ease, the detrimental effects of the death of Vine left no part of our earth untouched.

NEW YORK — When junior forward Khalil Iverson was fouled with less than one second to play and Wisconsin (8-11 Big Ten, 15-17 overall) leading by five points, freshman guard Brad Davison’s hands shot to the sky in excitement. Seconds earlier, with UW leading by only three, Iverson made what was the Badgers’ biggest play of the season, intercepting an errant Maryland (8-11, 19-13) inbound pass to help Wisconsin advance to the third round of the Big Ten Tournament.

In Chicago’s Vic Theatre, the room went dark and the crowd came alive. We knew what this meant — Hippo Campus was finally ready to perform, and we were more than ready to listen. Shades of blue lighting immediately hit the stage and outlined the band. Lead vocalist Jake Luppen let his voice pervade the room that had now fallen silent with suspense. His melodic tone carried the lyrics to the song “Poems” as the other band members let their instruments slowly seep into the rhythm. The beginning of “Poems” feels like a dream — unhurried and soothing. After a minute or so, however, all of the instruments come in at once to create this burst of euphoria. Although it was not clear to me at first, it now seems obvious why the band chose this song to open with. The initial dreamy feel and the knowledge that a vibrant chorus is seconds away generates this palpable, unmistakable electricity in the crowd that sets up the rest of the night for high spirits and success.

If there was any hangover from the Wisconsin Badgers’ (6-10 Big Ten, 13-16 overall) massive upset of Purdue Thursday night, it missed Brad Davison. Defense was the name of the game Saturday afternoon, as No. 1 Wisconsin faced off against No. 7 Minnesota in the final game of the WCHA regular season. With sold out LaBahn Arena rocking, the Badgers (20-2-2-2 WCHA, 28-3-2 overall) were able to pull out a gritty 1-0 win against the Gophers (16-7-32, 20-9-3) thanks to a first period goal by Maddie Rolfes that deflected off two Gopher defenders before finding the back of the net. Kristen Campbell recorded her NCAA leading 11th clean sheet on the year, but Campbell got a huge lift all night from her defense, which actually recorded more blocked shots,19, than Campbell had saves, 16. After the game, seniors Lauren Williams, Baylee Wellhausen and Claudia Kepler raised the WCHA regular season trophy for the third straight year.
