There's nothing quite like a good zombie game to get in the
Halloween spirit. Most zombie games pit you as the human action
hero, armed with weapons galore on your quest to save the world
from zombification. While blowing up those lumbering brain-eaters
in a myriad of gruesome ways is a blast, that scenario has gotten
stale.

Everyone likes a big finish. That's what makes action movies,
fireworks and Peter North so popular. But the best big finishes
aren't found on the silver screen or in the dark blue sky; they're
found on what many fans would call the \other day of rest""-college
football Saturdays. Perhaps there is something holy about football
on Saturday. If so, you would say this past Saturday was supremely
sanctified and could, one day, become a holiday.

Lately there's been a resurgence of time-honored artists
releasing new music. From old-timers Bon Jovi and Paul McCartney to
the hipper Pixies and Green Day, established artists have been
hitting the charts in record numbers. So it comes as no surprise
that Sheryl Crow has dropped her latest album, Wildflower.

Last week, after months of waiting, Nintendo finally revealed
the controller for their next generation game console, code-named
Revolution, at the Tokyo Game Show. And after months of waiting,
two things became apparent: all the speculation on the controller
in the gaming community over the last six months was nowhere close
to what was seen ,and Nintendo may have finally gone completely
insane.

After spending a summer working at a driving range, Derek
learned to dodge balls flying at his face. His \friends"" knocked
some sense into the philosophy major, treating him like a moving
target. Derek spent the days envisioning himself as his idol,
Batman. The golfers were his nemesis. Little did those golfers know
their evil days were numbered. But sorry Derek, you can't fight
crime if you always go home to Halo.

Many were disappointed by the absence of a new \Splinter Cell""
game during the 2004 holiday season. To avoid going up against
other video game heavyweights, like ""Halo 2"" and ""Grand Theft
Auto: San Andreas,"" producer UbiSoft held off releasing their spy
franchise until spring. The wait was well worth it, and once again
protagonist Sam Fisher delivers a peerless gaming
experience.

\Star Fox"" for the Super Nintendo was a revolution of video
game design. Back then a 16-bit machine pushing polygons like that
had never been seen.

It's that time of year again. The Super Bowl has arrived, and it
seems as though everyone on the UW-Madison campus is being sucked
into the vortex that is one of the biggest events of the year.
Students are planning where to put the keg so as to not block the
television, betting pools are already forming by the hundreds and
girlfriends across the campus are rolling their eyes as their
boyfriends get that glazed look in their eyes that usually only
\Halo 2"" brings out.

Almost three years ago, \Halo"" changed the genre of
first-person shooters and introduced a level of gameplay that is
rarely rivaled even today. The sequel to arguably the greatest XBox
game of all time has some impossibly big shoes to fill, which is
likely why the game seems like such a disappointment. Despite
falling short of expectations, ""Halo"" successfully re-executes
the first game's winning strategy.

One of the countless scenes to inspire unintentional laughter in
DMX's gangsta flick \Never Die Alone"" occurs when a character
shouts, ""This isn't a Quentin Tarantino movie! This is real
life!""
