When I would watch the NBA playoffs last spring, one of my
favorite parts of the coverage was the ""wired"" segments from TNT
and ESPN in which the networks would show three or four clips,
mostly of head coaches yelling at their players or talking strategy
with them during a timeout.

For years we accepted that Bill Belichick was a football genius.
The guy just never made a wrong move.

Sunday's 4-1 Minnesota Twins loss to the New York Yankees meant
the end of more than a team's season. For fans who appreciate
multi-purpose, cheap stadiums like the Metrodome, it meant the end
of an era.

A new single is set to be released along with ""This Is It,"" a
movie about the rehearsals leading up to what was to be Michael
Jackson's final tour. The song was unfinished, only a piano with
Michael singing and some of the lyrics. On top of this, a
significant amount of unfinished tunes have been recovered. But if
any artist is so electric and dynamic their work deserves to be
preserved the way they left it, it is Michael Jackson, though there
are some odd cases of posthumous work in the past that also warrant
questioning.

Sunday's Primetime Emmy presentation wasn't much different from
the year prior, at least within my universe. I was still attempting
to watch the awards in the middle of my Sunday night shift at work.
I still watched gleefully as ""30 Rock"" won in every category and
I still scratched my head when they announced a list of mini-series
nominees I'd never heard of. It's like a category just for
HBO.

The beginning of the college football season also marks the
release of the newest editions of college football video games.
Playing the role of Florida, perennial powerhouse EA Sports has
brought the house with ""NCAA Football 2010."" Given the hype
surrounding the newest game, the game's shortcomings are a bit
surprising.

The year 2003 is important for many reasons. The United States
officially invaded Iraq, Arnold Schwarzenegger was elected governor
of California, and China officially joined Russia and America by
becoming the third country to put a person in space. However, none
of these can possibly parallel the event that occurred on February
21, 2003; that was the day the Todd Phillips film ""Old School""
hit theaters and changed the landscape of comedy for the next
decade.

The numbers say it all: a third national championship in four
years, just two losses in the entire season, four team members (and
their head coach) selected for the U.S. national hockey team and a
Patty Kazmaier Award for Wisconsin senior goaltender Jessie Vetter.

When the year wound down last May and the opportunity to try my
hand at writing a weekly column came up, I jumped on it. I never
thought it would be easy, though I have to admit I never thought it
would be this hard, either.

The regular season may be over, but the championships are just
heating up for the University of Wisconsin women's rowing team. The
Big Ten Championships kick off the post-season Saturday, May 2, at
Griggs Reservoir in Columbus, Ohio. The Badgers will take a full
six-boat team into competition. Head coach Bebe Bryans led the team
to another strong campaign in her fifth season at the helm. Bryans
is excited about the way her team practiced and competed as they
closed out their regular season.

Would our teacher be a stripper with huge plastic boobs? What
kind of shoes does one wear to this kind of thing? Would there be
mirrors, peeping toms and would I get herpes?

The Wisconsin men's and women's rowing teams were in action this
weekend and both teams posted solid results.

If you're like me, by this point in the semester, you have
completely checked out of all your classes. Perhaps you are
ignoring homework, skipping entirely too much class, or maybe you
have just stopped pretending you aren't facebooking during lecture.
Whatever the case, you're probably looking for something to
distract you from your responsibilities and make the rest of the
semester go faster. Let me suggest recording a rap album.

The men's and women's rowing teams both excelled in competition

Passover is a weird holiday to me. In theory, it's great - Jews
getting together and commemorating our freedom from bondage in
Egypt. We drink at least four glasses of wine, watch The Ten
Commandments"" on NBC, sing - sometimes poorly - and celebrate with
our closest friends and family.

If I may borrow from Garrison Keillor, it has been another quiet
off-season in Green Bay, my hometown. Free agency yielded a number
of exciting stories across the league, from the big-time pickups in
Kansas City to the axing and reclaiming of Terrell Owens. But once
again, the Packers remain absent from the headlines while the rest
of the league spends time wheeling and dealing.

In 2007, the teen comedy ""Superbad"" became a certifiable
phenomenon. One of the most popular high school movies in years, it
was quoted ad nauseum and made a cultural icon out of a lovable
loser known famously as ""McLovin.""
