On Sunday night, CBS and The Grammy’s aired a two and a half hour special to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles’ first U.S. visit. It was a star-studded event, with performances by everyone from Pharrell Williams to Keith Urban, and a camera seemingly dedicated to showing Tom Hanks and Yoko Ono rock out all night. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr had a tear-jerking reunion and shut the house down with a closing rendition of “Hey Jude.” Here are a few performances from the night that I loved, hated or just didn’t really understand.

Sunday evening marked the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ first appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show," and as such, The Grammy’s hosted a show in honor of the infamous band. Artists ranging from Katy Perry to Gary Clark Jr. spent the evening performing their own renditions of classic Beatles tracks, interspersed with interviews with Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and CBS associates who attended the fateful show back in 1964. The 90-minute long special paid warm homage to the most important band in history.

Traevon Jackson has been a controversial player for the Badgers (6-5 Big Ten, 19-5 overall). He’s known as “Mr. Clutch” for making multiple game-winners, but also as a player who makes multiple mistakes that can cost his team. Badger fans saw both sides of that today, and it was infuriating at first, but was then followed by exhilaration.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Last year, UW running back Montee Ball left the team after scoring more touchdowns than any other running back in NCAA history. He ultimately moved on, but left the Wisconsin running back brigade in the capable hands of senior James White.
