Even with the stands at McClimon Soccer Complex full as part of the annual “Pack the Mac” event, the Wisconsin Badgers (Big Ten 0-1-0, overall 2-4-1) fell to the No. 2 Indiana Hoosiers (1-0-0, 6-1-0) 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.

If you’d have told me a few months ago that Subset Games, the makers of “FTL: Faster Than Light,” were going to come out with one of the tightest, most interesting strategy games ever made, I’d have laughed in your face.

The Wisconsin women’s tennis team (6-4) will travel to Blacksburg, Va., this weekend to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies (6-0) and James Madison Dukes (6-0), two teams with whom the Badgers do not have much history.

“Shadow of the Colossus” is the best kind of miserable — it paints a painful picture of a cold and empty world that just doesn’t care anymore. It’s a beautiful world, but any attempt of building something here fell into decay long ago. What little semi-intelligent life you do come across must be killed in the name of a “rescue the damsel” quest that is evil and doomed from the beginning.

The Wisconsin men’s tennis team (4-4) trekked out west this weekend for a pair of matches against formidable Pac-12 foes Oregon and Washington. However, the Badgers came away empty-handed, losing both matches 5-2 in tough fashion. The squad started out the road trip by taking on an Oregon team that head coach Danny Westerman called a “very good team” that also features both a top-20 singles player, Thomas Laurent, and doubles pair, Laurent and Cormac Clissold. Oregon brought a 4-2 record into the match, with their only two losses coming against No. 5 powerhouse Stanford and No. 23 Cal.

Turnovers and defensive lapses have been a recurring theme for the University of Wisconsin women’s basketball team. 21 first quarter points coupled with rampant and costly turnovers down the stretch served as the formula yet again for the Badgers’ 69-55 road loss to conference foe Indiana University last Wednesday.

The last time the Wisconsin Badgers were on the Kohl Center floor came more than one week ago, when freshman guard Brad Davison drew a charge 94 feet from UW’s basket with two seconds remaining. Davison split his ensuing pair of free throws and, in the process, jumpstarted a flurry of debate on if the play was smart or, as Western Kentucky Athletic Director Todd Stewart called it, “a disgrace.”

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA — After three straight close losses to ranked opponents, Wisconsin (3-4) badly needed a signature win. The Badgers will have to keep waiting after falling 49-37 at the hands of No. 18 Virginia (7-0) Monday night.

The Badgers women’s soccer team finds itself trading below-freezing temperatures at home for a little warmth and sunshine as it will be roadtripping down to pleasant Columbia, S.C., to take on the No. 1-seed South Carolina Gamecocks in the second round of the NCAA women’s soccer tournament after handily beating the Toledo Rockets Friday night, 5-0.

Heading into the final third of the season, the Indiana Hoosiers looked to play the role of The Little Engine That Could — both so close to climbing over the mountain, yet so far. In what has been an extremely underwhelming year for IU, who stand at a 3-5 overall record, the Hoosiers are still in search for their first Big Ten victory.

When Mario was first introduced as Jumpman in 1981’s “Donkey Kong,” video games were in a much different landscape. Arcades were thriving, but the Video Game Crash of 1983 had nearly put an end to consoles. If not for a Japanese company that formerly dabbled with playing cards and other niche markets, it most certainly would have.

Week four of college football did not disappoint as many of the top teams in the nation got their first taste of conference action and, with it, their first true tests of the season. Away with the cupcakes! The first week of conference play served as a measuring stick for some, to see where their season might be taking them, while for others it was simply a stop on the road. Here are some recaps of some of the biggest games from last week.
