The Western District of Wisconsin’s federal Court acquitted State Street’s Sconnie Nation Friday of a copyright infringement accusation a local photojournalist brought against the clothing company in 2012 regarding the use of a picture of Madison Mayor Paul Soglin, according to a press release.

So, here we are again. Temperatures have finally climbed higher than 40 degrees, the sun is out and tables and chairs are back outside State Street’s beloved restaurants. During this past particularly frigid winter, going to get food was less about the best eating experience and more about finding the closest possible place to grab food so frozen noses and hands could be avoided. But it’s time to venture back outside and check out the best warm-weather eating experiences Madison has to offer.

It’s a familiar story. Five college kids head out to a secluded cabin for a weekend of debauchery and shenani… no wait. Actually, in Fede Alvarez’s “Evil Dead” the responsible 20 somethings are at the cabin out of friendly concern for one of their own, Mia (Jane Levy), a drug addict who, during her last overdose, had a close brush with death, motivating this group bonding/ interven-cation.

With the calendar finally turning the page into April, NFL fans everywhere know that the draft is fast approaching, and if there is an overabundance of one thing on the Internet, it is certainly prognosticators telling us which player will go where and why they will succeed or flop in the pros.

There are an insane number of musical genres. Like, there are way too many for anyone to even try to keep track of. And I’m not just talking about big genres—rock, rap, country (and western), jazz—the ones where you can just lump any group or artist that sounds a certain way. Each of these broad categories has an absurd multitude of offshoots (post-punk, west coast gypsy jazz, anyone?).

Are you tired of that pesky TV in your living room, taking up space, constantly showing you the same ol’ reruns of “Family Feud” and Patrick Swayze movies? Think it’s about time to ditch it in order to make room for more activities? Well, friends, you’re not alone!

The No. 20 Wisconsin men’s hockey team (6-5-5 WCHA, 9-8-5 overall) will look to bounce back from their first loss in twelve games and continue their run up the WCHA standings when they host Alaska-Anchorage (1-13-4, 3-14-5) at the Kohl Center this weekend.

Franchises, developers and publishers can all easily disappear in a multi-billion dollar industry. Acclaim was once the cream of the game publisher crop, but they filed for bankruptcy in 2004. Now, in lieu of the recent THQ humble bundle (which allows gamers to name their price for a bundle of a variety of the company’s games) that went online, I thought it pertinent to reflect on this fledgling company that’s losing money faster than Jean Ralphio’s Entertainment 720 on “Parks and Recreation.”

Oh leap year, I remember when you were so cool. We got that extra day, I celebrated my friend Bryce’s rare birthday (he’s 5 now) and we spent a whole year making frog jokes (well we did when I was in the third grade). But now that I’ve turned 20 years, Leap Years are only synonymous with one thing: the presidential election. And oh my God I am tired of it.

The website politicalcompass.org has mapped out the 2012 presidential candidates on its grid based on all elements of their policy, and the results should horrify anyone who bothers to look. On the organization’s graph of political positions, they have a scale of the political “left” and the political “right” on the x-axis and authoritarian and libertarian on the y-axis. On the graph, the points representing Obama and Romney nearly overlap, which should send a strong message to voters; whatever happens this election cycle, nothing is going to change. The policies advocated for by the executive of the United States, for all practical purposes, will be nearly identical. Also, because both candidates represent right-of-center authoritarian viewpoints, with Romney being a smidgen more right and more authoritarian than Obama, civil rights activists, libertarians and other espousers of freedom should be worried.

Latinos are the fastest-growing ethnic group in the United States, accounting for half of the nation's total growth in the past decade. Thus, this ever-growing voting block will undoubtedly have a significant impact in the upcoming presidential election, especially in key swing states like Florida, Colorado and Nevada. Historically, Latinos have voted Democratically ,with 67 percent of all Hispanics voting for Barack Obama in 2008. However, this could change if Republicans adopt smart, modern, pro-immigration policies.

There's something about the University of Wisconsin-Madison that puts it on the map. Compared with Harvard, the x-factor isn't our academic prestige. And while usually placing near or in the top ten, we're not the nation's number one party school. But we rock at doing both simultaneously. And that's why this student body may, in fact, be the most talented.

Awards season for movie releases has come and gone, along with the Oscars themselves. After catching up on the last few intriguing winners that you’ve yet to see, there won’t be much left playing in the theaters with any real draw for awhile. We’ve officially entered that barren cinematic tundra that comes around at the start of every year, that miserable period of arctic chill after all the winter magic has come and gone, leaving us with nothing but dirty snow and foul movies.
