Neko Case clearly knows how amazing she is. Fox Confessor Brings
the Flood shows an even more confident artist than 2002's classic
Blacklisted. Maybe it was the critical acclaim of that album, or
maybe it is her work with indie pop outfit The New Pornographers.
Whatever the case, Case belts her way through 12 tracks on Fox
Confessor, and each one showcases her best singing and writing to
date.

Wes Craven's original The Hills Have Eyes,\ which was itself
practically a remake of his own 1972 jolter ""Last House on the
Left,"" was an ultra low-budget, exploitative look at man's
inherent capacity for violence. Both films, which were also
influenced by Ingmar Bergman's ""The Virgin Spring,"" had likeable,
innocent Americans being tortured and senselessly killed by
antagonists representing evil in its purest form so that other
likeable, innocent Americans could guiltlessly embrace their
capability for violence and slay those godless sons-of-bitches.

Philadelphia—Arizona head coach Lute Olson called it his team's
best offensive performance all year. ESPN analyst Dick Vitale would
later call it the biggest disappointment of all of Friday's games.
Call it what you will, but the Badgers' 94-75 loss to the Wildcats
in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the Wachovia Center in
Philadelphia Friday meant the end of their season.Wildcat senior
guard Hassan Adams, who played in his first game after being
suspended for a DUI, scored 21 points, and junior guard Mustafa
Shakur pitched in with 18 points and nine assists, as Wisconsin
dropped its fourth-straight game to end the season and failed to
pick up its 20th win for the first time since the 2000-'01
season.

If the name Teddy Thompson isn't ringing any bells, don't sweat
it. However, if the name of his father, Richard Thompson, doesn't
sound familiar, it's time to go back to Rock ‘n' Roll 101.
Brit-legend Richard Thompson, quite possibly the world's greatest
guitarist, has been putting out solid albums for the last
three-and-a-half decades. With ex-wife Linda—a brilliant musician
in her own right—Richard had a son, Teddy, who just released his
second album, Separate Ways. The big question, though, is if sins
of the father are transgenerational, does that also apply to
talent?

What happens when former members of the Wallflowers, Spacehog
and Cibo Matto team up with a young, vivacious chanteuse? A band
with a criss-cross of retro New York City rock, New Age roots and
sophisticated, sexualized grit. Morningwood and their self-titled
debut is a combination of tongue-in-cheek innuendos and
in-your-face raw sexuality that is enjoyable, if light, fare.

When I was a freshman just getting situated in the dorms, the
first thing I did was hop a bus to the nearest art theater. I went
to high school in the dinky town of Hurley, Wis., which itself
doesn't even have a movie theater or video store. If you cross the
Michigan border into Ironwood, you'll find only a Family Video
(where I worked, of course) and a rather pitiful little four-screen
multiplex (which I also briefly worked at) with a penchant for
getting only the most mainstream movies. Sooner or later most Oscar
contenders would come to us, but most of the time, if you didn't
want to see 'Harry Potter' or the latest Julia Roberts movie, you'd
be out of luck. So when I came to Madison, I was as excited about
the Hilldale Theatre and Westgate Art Cinemas as I was about
college girls and beer.
