I returned home for Winter Break hoping to rest, relax and have
some good times with old friends. However, bad weather soon trapped
me indoors with my own thoughts. I feel my columns prove my
thoughts are often quite idiotic, and it wasn't long before I
plunged into insanity. Although I've come to my senses now, I
submit sections of my journal entries to take you down the path of
my dark demise.

Lakeshore dorms, we realized only too late the value of our lost
peace. Tension had been boiling under the surface for weeks, if not
months. The snow brought friends out to frolic, but a simple
territory dispute would bring a house to the brink of chaos - and

One thing people do not always consider when coming to college
is: Will I learn both in and outside the classroom? We obviously
learn a great deal in classes, but there is something to be said
for continuing to learn beyond the classroom. Whether it is with
friends or student organizations, having an intellectual,
challenging conversation teaches just as much as a
professor.

Terminal inefficiency and the long work day of a person who
checks e-mail on the quarter hour have conspired to separate me
from social activity, my hobbies and the sleep necessary to pursue
either. By themselves, these kinds of isolations can be handled.

It is that time of year again. I am not talking about Halloween,
football season or midterms. It's time to start looking for an
apartment for next year to share with people you will probably
eventually come to resent. Maybe that view is a little cynical, but
the process of renting (and living in) an apartment can be a lot
more daunting and problematic than it seems at first glance.
