For two glorious weeks, our power rankings had a consensus on who the top six teams in the Big Ten were. Unfortunately, all moderately satisfying things must eventually come to an end. While the top teams remained static, and Penn State established itself as a clear No. 4 in this week’s rankings, it’s a muddled mess after that.

The last week of the regular season is here, and with that comes Rivalry Week, when powerhouses like Ohio State and Michigan, or Alabama and Auburn collide. Lost in the shuffle, however, is a fierce rivalry with one of the most interesting traditions in college football: Wisconsin (5-2 Big Ten, 8-3 overall) versus Minnesota (2-5, 5-6) in the Battle for the Axe.

The Wisconsin student section looked bad, as they pelted the cheerleaders with snowballs, but the Badgers (5-2 Big Ten, 8-3 overall) on the field didn’t look much better, losing to the No. 20 Northwestern Wildcats (5-2, 9-2) 13-7.

With the hangover of the “408 game” still permeating the mind of the 2014 Wisconsin squad heading into its final two games, the Badgers’ grasp on the Big Ten West was theirs to lose. It narrowly survived the tight confines of Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa and cruised in the battle of Paul Bunyan’s Axe the following week, earning a date with Ohio State at Lucas Oil Stadium.

It is a well-known fact that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. and much of the developed world. Our bodies have not yet evolved to accommodate our new sugar, salt and cholesterol-rich diets, seeing as these things were all but delicacies in the Paleolithic Age. Now, rates of obesity-related illness are through the roof in both adults and children. It seems no matter how much Americans are told by the government they should go and live healthier lives, obesity won’t go away.

Along with half the population of the world, I watch the Super Bowl purely for the commercials. I love the ones that make me laugh and I love the ones that make me cry.
