On a weekend with no shortage of things to do in Madison, the scene outside the Majestic on Saturday was still bustling. Fans, a mixture of college-aged kids and adults, some clad in costume, some not, lined up outside the theater to see Soccer Mommy perform.

The Undergraduate Theatre Association’s (UTA) production of the French drama “No Exit” ran Oct. 27 to 30 in Vilas Hall’s Hemsley Theatre. This phenomenal, eerie experience of a play exhibited the capability of University of Wisconsin-Madison students and a hunger for university-supported extracurricular theater programs.

Former President Barack Obama spoke at a Milwaukee rally in support of Tony Evers and Mandela Barnes on Oct. 30. While the Democratic candidates for Wisconsin Governor and U.S. Senator hoped the two-term president would help energize voters leading up to midterms, Obama did no such thing. Instead, he spent his hour-long window working out bits.

There’s this quiet and modest exhibition on the Chazen Museum’s second floor which I’ve been visiting occasionally when I’m feeling restless and missing home. During my time in Madison, I’ve developed a habit of roaming around everywhere vacantly, as if in fielding the long distances I’m somehow collapsing the empty space between San Francisco and myself.

Close your eyes and picture a party. What is the first thing you imagine? Chances are, you pictured alcohol in some form. Alcohol is at the heart of the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s reputation as a party school. Yet here I am, an oddity. While I may stick out like a sore thumb for several reasons, there is no reason more striking than me being a teetotaler: someone who does not drink alcohol.

Right-wing political commentator and genital hugger Matt Walsh will appear on campus Monday for a screening of his new documentary, “What is a Woman?” The event has drawn uproar from the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s transgender community and its allies, potentially including the vandalization of Memorial Union and Alumni Park — the vandals have not been publicly identified as of 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 24.

A wrongful death lawsuit was filed Tuesday against Democratic Senate Minority Leader Janet Bewley (D-Mason) following her involvement in a July fatal car accident that killed a five-year-old girl and her mother. Bewley was not injured in the accident.
