Wisconsin (5-3 Big Ten, 12-7 overall) took care of business at home — as head coach Greg Gard earned Big Ten win number 50 — after defeating Nebraska (2-6 Big Ten, 7-12 overall) by a final of 82-68. However, Coach Gard was not the only one with a record setting night; Junior forward Nate Reuvers reached 127 career blocks, passing Rashard Griffith and vaunting himself into fourth place for career blocks in Wisconsin history. The record breaking didn’t end there, as the Badgers also set a new school record with 18 made three-pointers in the game.

Wisconsin (4-3 Big Ten, 11-7 overall) looks to advance its winning streak over Nebraska (2-5 Big Ten, 7-11 overall) when the Cornhuskers travel to the Kohl Center Tuesday night. The Badgers are currently 16-14 all-time against Nebraska, but have won 10 of the last 14 matchups.

After a rough showing at the Legends Classic Tournament in New York, Wisconsin’s record fell to 4-3 after a loss to both Richmond and New Mexico during tournament play. However, the Badgers look to turn things around as they prepare to face NC State (5-2) during the Big Ten/ACC Challenge in Raleigh, NC on Wednesday.

Earning itself a year of bragging rights, Wisconsin (3-1) handed in-state rival Marquette (2-1) its first loss with a score of 77-61. The Golden Eagles fought to keep the game within reach, but after an MVP performance from senior guard Brevin Pritzl, the Wisconsin-Marquette narrative was changed.

After two record setting games, all eyes are on junior forward Nate Reuvers as the Badgers enter their third game of the season against McNeese State Wednesday night. Last week, Wisconsin (1-1) defeated Eastern Illinois at home after a huge showing from Reuvers, who recorded his second career double-double consisting of 14 points, a season-high 14 rebounds, and nine blocks, which tied the school record. Reuvers’ performance earned him his first career Big Ten Player of the Week accolade, and improved his average to 18 points, 10 points, and 6.5 blocks a game thus far. In the game prior against St. Mary’s, Reuvers scored a career high of 22 points while also securing six rebounds and four blocks.

Wisconsin (1-1) took care of business in its home opener against Eastern Illinois (0-2), taking down the Panthers 65-52. The evening began with a pregame video paying tribute to Howard Moore and his family, who experienced the tragic loss of his wife and daughter in an automobile accident earlier this year. In order to honor Coach Moore and his family, the Badgers have adopted the slogan “Do Moore, Be Moore, 4 Moore,” which appears on the team’s warm up uniforms. During the lineup announcement, Coach Moore’s son Jerell suited up in number 34 as the sixth starter and was introduced along with the rest of the team.

Basketball season is back as the Badgers prepare to officially kick things off on the road against St. Mary’s on Tuesday, November 4. Wisconsin began play this year with an 82-53 victory over UW La Crosse during in an exhibition game Friday night. However, although the Badgers took care of business Friday night, so did the rest of the Big Ten conference.

New Orleans indie-pop outfit Generationals performed at High Noon Saloon this past week with their low-key, Wednesday night set. The rustic brick walls lined with arcade games — think Alice Cooper’s Nightmare Castle pinball — of High Noon just sort of felt right alongside the minimalist, new wave vibe.

Not since Halloween of 2017 have we last visited the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. But after the painfully long wait, Netflix’s hit sci-fi series “Stranger Things” has returned in its most exciting and emotional season yet. To put things simply: the new season of “Stranger Things” is almost absolutely perfect.

There was never a bigger or greater TV show in history. Originally airing in 2011, HBO’s “Game of Thrones” spanned eight seasons and helped transform the fantasy genre through its human-centered drama, complex characters and a captivating plot. With the series ending Sunday night, most fans, including myself, were extremely disappointed with how it ended.

After last week’s somewhat rushed and disappointing episode, HBO aired one of the best episodes of “Game of Thrones” by a long shot this Sunday. Two weeks ago director Miguel Sapochnik gave us “The Long Night,” the giant battle at Winterfell against the Army of the Dead, which brought the remaining characters together to fight for their lives in a spectacular array of CGI and fantasy spectacles. Now he directed “The Bells,” an episode that not only shocked audiences and delivered stunning action but was rooted in powerful, emotional suspense that honored its complex characters.

After a gigantic episode involving the war at Winterfell between the surviving heroes and the Army of the Dead, episode four of the eighth and final season of “Game of Thrones” entitled “The Last of the Starks” offered both recovery from last week and a build up to the show’s spectacular finish. In one of the best-written episodes in the series, the show laid the framework for yet another battle and the show’s climax.

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” is without question the most popular television series in history, spanning across the entire world to become a cultural phenomenon and milestone in entertainment history. Many fans of the show admit how they usually have a distaste for the fantasy genre, alluding to how the show deviates from traditional fantasy stories and is itself a refreshing and unique take on the genre.
