The clich??d adage goes like this:?? \There's no offense like a
good defense."" As trite sounding as it is, this saying applies
quite aptly to junior goalie Bernd Br??ckler. So far this season,
Br??ckler has been the defensive backbone for the No. 9 Wisconsin
Badgers (9-6-5 Western Collegiate Hockey Association, 15-9-6
overall).

played host to the Big Ten wrestling championships and finished in
ninth place with 71.5 points. No. 3 Minnesota (6-1-0 Big Ten,
16-5-0 overall) repeated as Big Ten Champs by accumulating 126.5
points. At the end of the two-day grapple fest, seven Badgers
placed in the top seven of their respective weight classes, earning
tickets to the NCAA championships in Kansas City, Mo. March

On Saturday afternoon, Head Coach Bo Ryan kept on doing what he
has done for the past 13 games in Madison: winning. Ryan's
determined Badgers (8-3 Big Ten, 18-5-overall) rallied to defeat a
talented and underachieving Indiana team (5-6, 15-9) 71-59, and in
doing so, are making the Kohl Center one of the most feared places
to play in the Big Ten.

When Kelly Conway began playing soccer when she was five years
old, she did not want to be a goalie. Perhaps it would be difficult
for the little girl who wanted to play in the field to see herself
as a woman holding the record for saves at UW.

On a windy Sunday afternoon, the Wisconsin men's soccer team
(1-1 Big Ten, 7-4-1 overall) faced No. 20 Penn State (2-2 Big Ten,
7-5-0 overall). The Badgers prevailed over the Nittany Lions 2-1 in
an exciting and physical match. Taking the brunt of that physical
play used by PSU was junior midfielder David Martinez, the hero of
the match who scored the game-winning goal at the 76:25
mark.

On Tuesday evening the Wisconsin (3-3-1) women's soccer team

senior goalkeeper Kelly Conway accomplished an individual effort of
amazing scope. Conway recorded her 313th save of her collegiate
career, surpassing former UW goalkeeper Heather Taggart's mark of
310 set in 1991.
