CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – When redshirt junior quarterback Joel Stave left the game with a head injury late in the first quarter, redshirt junior Bart Houston was thrust into an uncomfortable spot. He came into the game having only thrown 13 passes in his entire Wisconsin career before Saturday, and had never played during meaningful game situations.

While Badger players and coaches came into a home and away tilt with Minnesota (3-5 Big Ten, 13-6 overall) unsure how they would feel about the process, the matches could not have worked better for them.

There's a lot that can come from a big quarterback sack: the
lost down, the lost yardage and usually a little less confidence
and sharpness from the now bludgeoned signal caller.

Jack Kerouac did it. So did Johnny Cash. And most likely, so are
a handful of people sitting around you at College Library. Taking
amphetamines such as Adderall and Ritalin to intensify focus and
concentration may be nothing new, but recent side effects
experienced by some users have resulted in more dramatic calls to
action than in the past.

At a school that originally allowed its students to bring sheep
to class, farming is very important and much research on the
subject is done on this campus. As science moves forward, organic
farming operations are seen to be the answer to a host of society's
problems.

The tambourine is a lead singer's best friend: It gives the
lonely vocalist something to hit while his guitar player rips a mad
solo. The Subdudes love the instrument so much that they have a
single man dedicated to the tambourine. Steve Amed??e, the
tambourine master, expresses this passion freely, and annoyingly,
in the Subdudes sixth studio album Behind the Levee. Amed??e's
efforts, combined with those of his four bandmates have produced an
album that exudes mediocrity.

It is interesting that just a few simple letters put together
can mean so much. Take, for example, the letters LGBT. Most
students on campus could tell you what the letters stand for
(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender), but a surprisingly small
amount of students could tell you what they all mean, especially
the T.

With the first snow falling a few weeks ago, winter is
officially upon us here in Madison. While most students are
undoubtedly cursing the cold as they lunge to class, curled up in
their many layers, there are some who celebrate the advent of
winter sports, if not the arrival of winter.

\As a freshman I came and lived in the dorms as most people do,
and also like most freshmen do, made the mistake of setting up
housing [for sophomore year] the first day you could sign a lease.
I ended up living with a bunch of other random kids from the dorms
in this cramped house,"" UW-Madison senior Megan Lipke said.

True story: I was driving through Berkeley on a sunny California
day. At the time, I was a community college instructor on my way to
teach a class at one of the five schools at which I worked
part-time. In a sexually suggestive way, a man hooted at me from
the window of a mini-truck, even though I was fully clothed with my
blonde hair under a baseball cap.
