The Wisconsin Badgers men’s and women’s Track and Field teams dominated throwing events at UW-Milwaukee’s Panther Tune Up on Feb. 21, while the men’s team set records at Notre Dame’s Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Indiana that same weekend.
In Milwaukee, while only four Badgers participated in events, they made their names known, sweeping men’s and women’s shot put, as well as the women’s weight throw.
In men’s shot put, junior Kyle Clabough, the lone Badger, offered the rest of the competition no chance as his 18.05 meter throw cleared every athlete by at least three meters. The shot was a personal record, his second first-place finish and his fifth top five finish of the season.
Meanwhile sophomore Zonica Lindeque took first in the women’s shot put with a personal best throw of 16.74 meters. It was her second-straight first place finish and a fifth-straight top five finish this season. The mark also puts her in fifth on the school’s all time leaderboard for shot put.
In the women’s weight throw, the Badgers again swept the field, with sophomore Nora Skoraczewski taking first with a personal best throw of 20.25 meters, which also marks ninth on the school’s weight throw record books. Sophomore Morgan Flaska took second in the event with a fourth Badger personal best throw of 18.92 meters, marking her best finish of the season.
Meanwhile at Notre Dame, the Badger men’s distance medley relay team of Andrew Casey, Jalen Williams, Patrick Hilby and Archie Noakes set a new school record with their time of 9:18.44, over a second and a half faster than the previous record of 9:19.99 set in 2023.
The DMR team’s time of 9:18.44 was strong enough to finish second place overall in the meet. That time was also good enough for third in the Big Ten and sixth in the country, giving Wisconsin a great position to go for gold in both the Big Ten and NCAA indoor championships.
Freshman Cillian Gleeson also ran in South Bend, with his time of 4:07.61 earning him sixth place in the meet.
The Badgers’ dominant showing Saturday should give them the confidence they need in preparation for this week's Big Ten Indoor Championships taking place in Indianapolis.
