Rebecca Skloot, author of ‘The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,’ will give a lecture on scientific consent at UW-Madison’s Shannon Hall March 4.
Skloot will discuss scientific research and consent — the premise of her book — during the lecture, titled “An evening with Rebecca Skloot: An Intersection of Science & Ethics.”
A New York Times’ Bestseller, ‘The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks’ follows Skloot as she and Lacks daughter fight to uncover the truth about the nonconsensual scientific testing that was done on Henrietta Lacks for the purpose of research.
The event will be held in Memorial Union’s Shannon Hall at 7:30 p.m. on March 4. It is free and open to the public as part of the Wisconsin Union Directorate’s Distinguished Lecture Series.
