Women suspected of robbing four stores in 48 hours

Madison police are investigating a string of robberies believed to have been committed by the same person that took place early this morning on the East Side.

A woman is suspected of robbing three separate places of business between the 700 and 3700 blocks of of E. Washington Street at around 2:30 this morning. 

The suspect is believed to have been carrying a handgun that aided her in robbery of the BP gas station on the 700 block, the Mobile station on the 3000 block and the Walgreens on the 3700 block of E. Washington Ave. 

It is believed the suspect got away with cigarettes and an unknown amount of cash from the respective stores. 

No injuries were reported at any of the incident cites. 

The woman is described as “a heavy set white female who was roughly 5''5" - 5'7" tall with red hair,” according to the Madison Police Department. She was wearing dark clothing, a scarf and a baseball hat during the robbery. 

Police believe the same woman also robbed the Tobacco Deals store on the 2800 block of E. Washington yesterday. 

No arrests have been made in this case as police continue to investigate.
