Chloe Miller

Chloe Miller selected 11th overall in National Pro Fastpitch Draft

Team captain and star senior catcher Chloe Miller was selected 11th overall in the 2017 National Pro Fastpitch Draft Monday night. Miller was picked by the Akron Racers, the league’s longest tenured team. The senior from Bettendorf, Iowa, has enjoyed a historic season so far for the Badgers, hitting .440 with nine home runs and 42 RBI. Miller is on pace to break the program’s single season records in both average and runs batted in.

Akron has not had a winning record since 2011, but feel optimistic after Monday’s draft, in which the team took seven players besides Miller.

“This could be the Racers’ best draft class in recent year,” General Manager Joey Arrietta told akronracers.org.

The Badgers have been terrific this season, making appearances in the national Top 25 and staking their claim for a spot in the NCAA tournament. Miller has been a huge reason for this success, leading the team in nearly every offensive stat and playing stellar defense behind the plate.

Miller and Wisconsin look to end the season on a high note in the next few weeks, as they play conference series at Illinois and at Maryland, as well as a nonconference game at home against Northern Illinois.
