An unnamed Madison Police Department officer accused of two counts of unlawful conduct and other charges has willfully resigned, according to a Madison Police Department Professional Standards and Internal Affairs Discipline Summary released Wednesday.
The quarterly report details both an external and internal case reported April 15 and 16, in which the officer violated use and care of city property, police weaponry, status change policies and two counts of unlawful conduct.
The officer engaged in unlawful activity regarding a domestic situation in Rock County and also took property from coworkers and took home city-owned property without consent, including a Taser.
The officer also mounted a gun sight on his rifle and did not test the weapon before taking it out on patrol duty. He also did not notify the department of a change in address.
The MPD will release its next report at the end of December.
