1796-—The Jews of the Netherlands are emancipated. The Dutch Pyramids go unfinished.

1859—Gas lighting is introduced to Hawaii. However, lava lamps remain popular.

1900—Telegraph use between Germany and the United States begins. But neither country can understand a thing the other is saying.

1902—“A Trip To The Moon,” the first science fiction film, is released. 67 years later, the United States government finances the remake, starring Neil Armstrong.
