Wisconsin state Rep. Mary Williams, R-Medford, announced Friday she is one of the multiple representatives not seeking re-election next term, according to a report.
Williams represents Taylor, Rusk and Sawyer counties in the 87th Assembly District. She was elected in 2002 and was the majority caucus secretary in 2007, 2011 and 2013 and the minority caucus secretary in 2009.
“I’m a firm believer in term limits,” Williams said in the report. “I’m at my 12th year right now, so it’s time for someone else to have the chance to do good things for the state of Wisconsin.”
Williams said in the report helping boost the state’s rainy day fund is among her proudest achievements.
State Sen. Dale Schultz, R-Richland Center, and state Reps. Fred Clark, D-Baraboo, and Pat Strachota, R-West Bend, all previously announced they also are not running for re-election.
