Dane County assists residents in health care enrollment

Dane County officials are urging residents to enroll for health insurance coverage with local enrollment assistant events held throughout the county before the upcoming Affordable Care Act deadline, according to Dane County Executive Joe Parisi in a press release.

Dane County residents have 38 days to enroll before they reach the deadline March 31. One Madison enrollment center is open to assistance at 2810 E. Washington Ave., according to the release. Residents must bring Social Security numbers, income information and police numbers for all health insurance plans currently covering members of the household in order to enroll.

According to the release, students will also have an opportunity to enroll in health insurance at the Campus Student Lounge on the Truax Campus of the Madison Area Technical College.

Parisi said 46 percent of eligible adults between the ages of 19 and 34 have no coverage in the United States, which comes to approximately 209,000 individuals in Wisconsin alone who are strongly encouraged by Dane County officials to enroll. Eligible individuals can access coverage in the Health Insurance Marketplace for $50 per month or less.

Parisi said enrolling for coverage will help young adults avoid numerous incidents that could result in expensive medical bills.
