A single University Curriculum Committee will now assess changes to courses at University of Wisconsin-Madison instead of four separate committees, according to a release.
The new committee was created upon the recommendation of an ad hoc interdivisional curriculum committee created in June 2012 to review course proposals across the four faculty divisions and advocate whether a single committee should be established. The single committee was approved Monday.
The single committee will look at new courses, course changes and the discontinuation of courses. According to faculty secretary Andrea Poehling, having a single committee will ensure consistent patterns standards across various curriculums.
The University Curriculum Committee will consist of 12 members, three from each division of the university.
"The University Curriculum Committee gives faculty a clearer voice in curricular matters, particularly in those that cross divisions, schools and colleges,” Taylor said in the release.
