Police investigating thefts in Sellery

University police are investigating a series of thefts that occurred early Friday morning in Sellery Residence Hall, located at 821 W. Johnson St.

An 18- to 20-year-old white male opened the doors of several residents’ room in the “B-Tower” of the dorm but left when he found the residents awake, according to Sgt. Aaron Chapin.

Chapin said in a statement the suspect stole items from rooms in which he found the residents sleeping.

The suspect is approximately 160 pounds and between 5’8” and 5’10,” according to police.

UWPD urges residents to lock their doors and to not open any doors for people who do not have an access card or key to the building, according to the statement.

Police are looking for any information on these incidents from the campus community and anyone with knowledge of the incident should call the UWPD at 608-264-2677 or Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.
