To the relief of a worried passenger, a Madison Metro Transit bus driver returned $1,000 to the police after finding a bank envelope on his vehicle.
While cleaning his bus on the 300 block of West Gorham Street, the driver found a bank envelope containing $1,000 and turned it over to the police, according to Madison Police Department spokesperson Joel DeSpain.
DeSpain said a Madison man called Metro Transit the next day identifying the amount of money and the bank from which it was drawn.
Police returned the money after checking with the Dane County Narcotics & Gang Task Force "to make sure the owner of the cash was not on their radar," DeSpain said.
