Public meeting will present campus disaster responses

A meeting will be held tomorrow in Steenbock Library to introduce the public to campus disaster plans for a variety of potential incidents.

University officials, who are developing a "Disaster Resistant University" plan, are inviting community members to participate in the mapping out of university protocol for responding to a number of different hazards. The threats include natural disasters, such as tornados and floods, technological dangers like structural fires, and political threats such as terrorism.

Potential response strategies developed by university officials and outside consultants behind the plan, which will be submitted to FEMA for approval and federal funding, will be available at the meeting for public review.

The meeting will take place from 4-6 p.m. in 240 Steenbock.
