A bill that would give property owners legal backing to defend themselves from intruders with lethal weapons passed the state Assembly Tuesday and will be debated Thursday in the Senate.
Under the “Castle Doctrine” legislation, courts would rule in favor of property owners in cases where they use deadly force against intruders.
Senators will also discuss a bill that would move the primary in Wisconsin from September to the second week of August, which passed the state Assembly Tuesday and will be debated on the Senate floor Thursday.
The bill will make Wisconsin comply with a federal law that says absentee ballots have to be sent to military personnel within 45 days of the primary.
The amended version of the bill currently allows only military personnel and overseas citizens to receive absentee ballots electronically.
