Several UW-Madison students signed a Contract with the Students\ Tuesday, pledging to fight for what they perceive to be a cleaner, more efficient student government.
""I believe that reform within [Associated Students of Madison] has become practically impossible. I understand that my role in ASM will be to prevent further spending and bureaucracy from passing this body,"" the opening to the 81-word statement read.
The statement also promised to reduce spending and implement checks and balances within the framework of ASM.
UW-Madison students David Lapidus, Steve Schwerbel and Sol Grosskopf, who all pledged to start a new student government after the botched ASM elections last week, were among the signatories of the statement.
