Wisconsin may be one step closer to lift-off in Sheboygan, Wis., through the signing of legislation officially creating the Wisconsin Aerospace Authority on Friday.
The Wisconsin Aerospace Authority will allow for studies on the economic feasibility and likelihood for the state to further engage in the aerospace industry and allows for the creation of Spaceport Sheboygan. It will be constructed off of the Rockets for Schools program on the lakefront each spring.
In the short term, this proposal has the real potential to grow our area's tourism industry and bring additional economic development and jobs to Sheboygan and Wisconsin,\ state Sen. Joe Leibham, R-Sheboygan, said in a statement. ""Over the long haul, this legislation will help to ensure that the city of Sheboygan and the state of Wisconsin are positioned to participate in ‘new economic frontiers' as they continue to unfold.""
