UW-Madison's avian-flu research may receive more lab space after a UW System Board of Regents committee approved a measure Thursday to lease space at the University Research Park. This space would serve the Department of Pathobiological Sciences and the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. The Physical Planning and Funding Committee also approved a reconstruction of Chadbourne Hall to commence in coming months.
The regent committee passed a measure that would allow the construction of the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery and the UW-Madison Morgridge Institute for Research. The University announced it had secured funding for the research center Monday. The committee voted to let the University exchange land with the Wisconsin Alumni Research Fund to build the facilities.
Thursday's decisions will go before the full board Friday morning.
The regents met at UW-Green Bay, where they saw a presentation of that university's new campus master plan.
